No, I wasn’t abducted by aliens, but for the amount of time that’s passed since I was last here on this blog, it’d be plausible. I was busy, with, you know, stuff. Life is full of stuff. The stuff that keeps me most busy (except the menfolk and pooch), is doing covers and writing stories. Since I was here last, I’ve had a book release.
The most awesome and venerable publisher Red Sage released its Secrets vol. 29 in July, and one of the stories was mine. Entitled Chimera, it’s the story of a bodyguard and a politician set in an orbital colony about 200 years from now. It has explosions, bullets, love, betrayal. And did I say explosions? I did? You sure?
For those wondering, I’m currently working on a cyberpunk story for Samhain‘s call for submissions. Mine is all about machine against human, freedom against tyranny, and black latex outfits. Oh yes, my lovelies, there will also be explosions. Lots and lots of them.
Also, I was busy doing covers! I love doing covers, and nothing tickles my inner Chihuahua more than authors contacting me after they’ve received their covers. I know what it’s like to wait for covers and hope they melt faces (mine always did, I’m a lucky girl). If you have a minute to spare and want to browse my portfolio, it’s here.
Lastly, I have another book coming later this month. It’s huge and it’s woolly. It’s The Mammoth Book of Paranormal Romance 2, with big names like Ava Gray/Ann Aguirre, Gail Carriger, and also yours truly.

RT, or as I like to call it, The Sweet Glittery Madness of Love, is in full swing. I’ve seen wings, I’ve fondled corsets, and I’ve given myself toe-blisters. The hotel and convention centre is HUGE. Huger than huge, even.

My latest book just launched. It’s a steampunk story entitled Full Steam Ahead. You’ve seen the cover here before, but let me share again, because I do like that cover. Very handsome dudes do that to me. 
Incidentally, all kinds of goodness follows this release. First, Heather from the Galaxy Express let me take the floor. Thank you Heather!
Second, The Independent on Sunday, some classy ink in the UK, talked about steampunk and listed Full Steam Ahead as what’s hot coming 2010. Again, Heather made this possible. Fist England, then the world! Mwa ha haa!
Also, a very special blog called Steampunk Scholar is as-we-speak reading Full Steam Ahead. Take a look at the most excellent limk to Albion Mike has on his blog. Man, I wish I could go!
The process of creating Full Steam Ahead wasn’t all fun and games. My editor and I had some Serious Discussions about what we thought would and would not work on a steampunk romance, about themes and symbols. Her article entitled Making it Matter is very, very interesting. That woman rocks in so many ways.
Lastly, let me thank everyone at Bitten By Books, and especially Beet, who took up my challenge and found a name for my villain. Thorne Sankliver is thus named thanks to Beet.

Full Steam Ahead has a cover. The official and exclusive unveiling took place at the Galaxy Express, a.k.a. Most Excellent Blog. Merci Heather! There’s a lot of love for the shiny airships in the background, also for the awesome dude and his wounded-hero expression. I’m very proud of this cover, which my evil twin Kanaxa did (see my online portfolio at Kanaxa). Can you believe I spent 4 hours tweaking the scarf? Yeah, I’m demented like that. But it had to be just *so*.
